Quote from: captainkurtz on September 23, 2023, 03:50:26 PMI often think of waters as being the architect and Gilmour one of the contractors employed to execute the architect's vision.  If you get a poor contractor, the end result will be terrible...Gilmour was the finest of contractors but, really, Waters was essential for having the necessary vision.

Actually, I don't often think that.  I've just made it up.  But it's a decent summation, I think.

The 2 post waters PF records - I'm not including the river one - aren't great.

Great analogy. You should copyright that!

I find the post Roger Floyd stuff very dull. Just no spark there at all. I'd much rather listen to The Final Cut than anything that came after

Definitely a situation where the whole was much greater than the sum of the individuals, for me anyway.  If I was in any camp though it would be Roger's.  He gave the band its edge

Enjoyed it so much I moved onto Disconnected by the same artist.

Then talk of Wobbler made me try out a few of their tunes on Spotify.  More pastoral than I was expecting. No bad thing though

Good win last night and it was a great performance.  True,  PSV granted Arsenal forwards a lot more space than they are used to in the Premier League but they took full advantage.   Good prep for Spurs at the weekend!

General Discussion / Re: Russell Brand
September 19, 2023, 01:13:43 PM
It's left me feeling very uncomfortable, I used to be a big fan of his until he turned into a conspiracy nutter. He has always had a sharp wit and he used to have a pretty good handle on things.  Used to download his radio 2 shows back in the day, it was a really entertaining show with Noel Gallagher often making an appearance.

He's also done great work in the field of addiction and is a real inspiration to many attempting to recover from their various demons.

But I don't get why the women in question would want to bring all this attention to their respective doors, especially bearing in mind Brand's current extreme support base and I'm inclined to side with the accusers.

Truth will out, I'm sure.

General Discussion / Re: What's made your day today?

Quote from: Nick on September 17, 2023, 05:08:20 PMTumble drier has been playing up, cleaned all the filters etc but still wouldn't stay on. Checked You Tube and there is a small almost hidden compartment that was full of crud. Quick clean and working like new. Love fixing things on You Tube rather than calling a plumber or buying new. The manufacturers must hate it.

With the price of electricity these days, I might have left it broken a little longer!  Apparently hanging clothes in a small room with a dehumidifier is a much more efficient way of drying clothes.  Takes longer but uses a fraction of the electricity
