Lamentable fanboi comment turned up in Facebook this morning. Under a photo captioned "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice" someone remarked "I love the way Neil used complete logic..no escape from reality mentality. A prophet indeed before his time!"

Bob has been defrauding his fans. $599 for a hand-signed book is bad enough but it turns out they weren't hand-signed at all. I was genuinely sad to read this.

I am waiting for delivery from an Amazon reseller. I received a notification earlier today, from Amazon, that the item was delivered to the resident today at 12:04pm by Fedex, signed for by someone called A.MITCELL. I was home at the time, none of my neighbours have a name remotely similar to the signee though I did call around to make sure. It hasn't been dumped anywhere around my home. I have CCTV and I checked up and down the street for any sign of a delivery van - nothing. Useless, and all I can do is report it and wait 48 hours before following up, but the Amazon bot is so far insistent the item has been delivered.

Reviews of Fedex show how appalling their service is.

Hermes had so much form for this sort of thing that they have of course since rebranded as "Evri".

Just back from my first ever face-to-face parents' evening.  Overall it went very well, but I used a not particularly obscure five-syllable word and the teacher didn't have a clue what it meant.  ::)

Company Christmas do in Chelmsford last night. Free bar. Still feeling rough.

We collect our new puppy in a couple of weeks, but we've just found out the little runt of the litter had to be put to sleep by the vet yesterday due to a heart murmur and fluid on the lungs. She was a sweet little thing and lasted 6 weeks, but was always so much smaller than the rest and was called Kinks due to a twisted tail. The breeder had the awful job of having to tell the future owner that they won't be getting a puppy after all.  :(

I'll be avoiding the Netflix nonsense, to respect their privacy.

My favourite Christmas song is Christmas Wrapping by The Watiresses, and today I heard an awful cover of it by The Spice Girls. Recorded in 1998 apparently.

Indeed. Last had issues six months ago....when it was boiling hot. Can't understand why modern boilers are so unreliable. At least we've got a British Gas Homecare policy but there's a £50 excess every time and no appointment earlier than Friday.
Managed to buy a 2kw convector heater and a 1.5kw oil filled radiator this evening. And that was not easy, I can tell you (like you say, bad timing)

Our old boiler broke during the Beast from the East. Which was nice.

Might have to put our heating on in the day today  >:( Having a new front door fitted and the temperature is plummeting already.
