Quote from: Slim on April 27, 2022, 10:10:16 PMIt's unfortunate that such a brilliant writer and performer spent so much time fannying around with the studio technology. Best tune on that album of course, I assume most people would agree, is A Dream Goes On Forever - my favourite version is here on the BBC special from forty years ago.

.. about 31 mins in.

I did record it to VHS all those years ago but my idiot brother either lost it or recorded over it. You can get it on DVD but last time I checked, it was extortionate.

Ah well, at least it's on YouTube.

Ah yes the OGWT introduced by Anne Nightingale..I remember being super excited to watch having seeing Todd@ Playhouse in Edinburgh in May of that year... good times... A Man on his Todd tour I think it was...

What dy think of that album??

I think it's brilliant in parts but like a lot of his earlier stuff, a bit self-indulgent and unfocussed. Overlong. Have to be in the right mood for it. I never listen to the whole thing all at once, I must admit.

Always found it interesting that he released this as a double album and then the next album (Initiation) which clocked in around the same 66 odd mins was released as a single album  and side 2 was indulgent to the max..( but still very good imho)

oh you lucky person, have you been to the fish restaurant on the harbour front in Tobermory?

I have always wanted to put my feet in the sea then walk to the top of Ben More....maybe one day.
Going to get ourselves booked into the Cafe Fish for later in the week..gets rave reviews and menu looks awesome..even for someone like me that can't abide shell food...

Booked for Thursday 6.30pm..

Quote from: pxr5 on April 20, 2022, 06:46:42 PMFinished Series 1 of From last night. Really enjoyed it. It definitely has a Lost vibe (which is a good thing IMO), but more gory and scary. Coincidentally Harold Perrineau appeared in both shows (he stars in From). Obviously there are many mysteries and questions - so hopefully it doesn't get cancelled. 9/10.

3 eps in and ready for giving up... the kid from the camper van is annoying as fuck.. the weird bloke is annoying as fuck.. the drug crazed bloke involved in the crash with the camper van is annoying as fuck and the whole premise of it is just shit frankly...
Gave up and binned...

MP was my first album to buy on release..actually got my Mum who worked in Glasgow to get it for me.. I'm sure it was £3.89.....Tommy Vance had played some tracks prior to release..Red Barchetta and Limelight for sure maybe Tom Sawyer as well...Loved it on first listen on the whole but  could never get on with VS for some reason... it was obviously  a pointer in the direction they were going for the next couple of albums in terms of guitar sounds....
Then caught them live in Nov 81 for the tour at Ingliston Cow Shed in Edinburgh... side 1 has been pretty much played to death live so it's probably not an album I listen to much nowadays... but still a top album in many respects
