I think my one fear about this is the potential for controversy. Picture the scene. It's a World Cup semi-final against Germany. We're 2-1 down in the second half. Then with 15 minutes to go, he takes Harry Kane off.

Still, he wouldn't be the first international manager to compete against his own country. I recall that Sven did. I think Fabio did as well. I'm sure Jack Charlton's Republic of Ireland played England at least once.

I believe Harry scored another hat trick in the Bundesliga the day after you typed that :)

Anyway - a nice send off for Lee Carsley in the last game before Thomas takes over. 5-0 against the Irish Republic. Satisfying second half especially. Nice and easy.
