Quote from: Thenop on October 23, 2024, 08:34:19 AMAfter an exchange of e-mails with Music on Vinyl about a replacement of 1 LP from an 8LP Miles Davis boxset I am getting one. It did not start out that way, I was told I was no eligible for one due to not complaiing earlier. I had to file a complaint within 14 days of discovery. Which I did, I opened the box yesterday, I received it in August though but the general terms do not state XX days after purchase or receipt, just 'after discovery'.
Also: a defect is a defect, regardless what time has passed. And that is another article in the terms.
So in the end I am getting what I want, reason to be happy. Although my jaw prevents me form smiling, it hurts like hell!

MOV came through ...a bit too much. They re-send my entire order which included another 5LP Miles Davis Boxset and there was absolutely  nothing wrong with that. So someone clicked a wrong button there. Next to that, it was one problem with one LP out of an 8LP set. So I have effectively received 14 free LPs. Hmmm.

A pornstar martini, presumably.

Tickets for Ayreon next year September. Given the number of complaints that it is impossible to get them, it was surprisingly easy.
Roll on September 13, matinee 12.30 show, old people and children time.

Alfresco dining in my denim shorts - in November* - and watching the world go by.  Yes, I'm back in downtown Athens. 8)

(I also got a complimentary light dessert for my Greek.  Yes, I'm back in...etc etc).

* In fairness, you do need to layer up a bit when dusk is setting in. ::)

Well today the obvious thing would be our visit to the Parthenon in the warm sunny weather, but the guy who scanned my ticket on entry noticed my AFTK apparel and said to me, "Great t-shirt, great band!".

We're everywhere... :)

Currently in Shanghai, not been for a number of years and there has been a massive change. It's like Blade runner. A very high proportion of cars and all scooters are electric, there is an eery silence on the streets as all you hear is tyre noise. buildings lit up at night with all sorts of amazing light displays, cash is a thing of the past, nearly all transactions are via Alipay , a phone app. Bullet trains are cheap and stations very clean, robot room service in hotels. Perhaps best of all is the translation technology, waiters have little machines they can speak into which translates to a screen and also pronounces the sentence, plus google translate etc are also excellent. These things didn't exist until recently and conversation was impossible without the usual pointing and miming. A new age is certainly here to embrace.

Just like the movies, you only see the shiny things. Camera's on every corner monitor whether you jaywalk and if do so 3 times your Alipay will be blocked. A new age indeed.

Not a new age that I will be embracing. Many western governments green with envy.   :(

Excellent turnout for the remembrance service today in Witney. Included many young persons in respectful tribute to those that fought for our freedom.
Always feel humbled on this solemn day. Lest we forget

Returning to sinus rhythm after 2 hours 45 minutes. Can sometimes fix it by walking quickly up seven flights of stairs near my home. Didn't work earlier but did just now.😀 Complicated a bit by doing my back two days ago chopping firewood so was walking like an old man. Need to warm up in future before any axe wielding. This getting old thing is a nightmare.

Maybe we need a thread for ageing and ailments?
