He has been cleared; that's a simple legal fact.
Well that's the line being pedalled by his solicitor, I see.  The case was abandoned because with a witness no longer being willing to give evidence, there was little chance of a prosecution.

Fantastic footballer, but not a very nice bloke (allegedly).

I don't know how nice he is but if that is the line his solicitor is peddling, it's just a statement of fact. No prosecution = clear.

New specs. Actually they're Poundshop-style reading glasses, I got five pairs for £10.39 inc delivery from Amazon. Couldn't find the style of frames I wanted in a proper shop. Will have proper prescription lenses put in a couple of them.

The Picnic Wasp

After a dreadful, stressful weekend, met a woman whilst out walking the dog today. I couldn't believe it when she told me she is 75 and looks at least 10 years younger if not more. We spoke for ages about our upbringings, education, work experiences and in her case children, who it transpired went to the same Glasgow school as me. Our conversation ended outside my home with us discussing our abilities to translate Latin these days, it having been so long since we both studied it. That part in particular made my day as one of my vicious gossiping neighbours, who along with others is trying to ruin my life, was loitering and listening. A relative stranger yet able to restore my faith in human nature. Perhaps prayer isn't unheard or in vain

The British lying Corporation's Business Editor, Simon Jack, making a (late) apology to Sir Nigel

Nice, did you get her phone number? :)

Actually, thinking about it I did date a woman who'll be 76 now, although she was 38 at the time.

CEO of NatWest, Alison Rose, has resigned. Well done Sir Nigel. Well done GB News. Proper investigative journalism. The complete opposite of what's on offer at the British 'lying' Corporation.
I doubt any other bank will now close anyone else's account for being friends with tennis's GOAT.

Umm Dan Wootton?  Neil Oliver?  GB News is a cesspit offering the worst of British culture and the nadir of journalism.

Give me the BBC anyday

The Nigel Farage story is a consumer affair issue - the type of thing the BBC covers week in, week out in shows like Money Box.  It really didn't deserve the attention it got and all the UK media is to blame for giving it so much focus.  It's not like he was even deprived of the ability to bank

Matt2112

I don't particularly hold a candle for either of them; I will say though that GB News haven't been peddling the narrative that fires are "raging across Greece", or asserted Sardinia is experiencing temperatures of 47C while the BBC's own weather app has them at 32C, because the former measures the ground while the latter measures the air.

Bad faith reporting seems to be all across the political spectrum and it's a challenge to navigate a course through all the BS.

Slim

Bad as each other, unfortunately. If you twisted my arm I'd admit GB News is worse. But I wouldn't say the Nigel Farage affair is a run-of-the-mill consumer affairs issue; how many ordinary banking customers have information about them leaked to a left-leaning broadcaster's business editor from the head of the bank?

What a completely wrong-headed statement. It's clearly a freedom of speech issue. Establishment forces attempting to cancel or inconvenience those with the 'wrong' opinions. We know what's happening here. It's sinister and much of it is government sanctioned too.
