Played a solo acoustic gig at the local (quite swish) Italian restaurant tonight - first set on the ground floor and second set on the first floor.

Went really well, especially as my family who were dining were given a 50% discount, I got a free beer (my first of the evening - at 10pm) and the owner and staff treated me with impeccable hospitality.

Nice way to see out the year.

Covid test = negative (makes me wonder what I've actually got though; maybe just a nasty strain of flu).

Sleeping seems something like back to normal after three days and nights of none.  Have managed to eat a bit. More energy today.  Just have developed a sore throat now which is slowly descending into my chest, so hopefully this is the final stage of this hugely frustrating illness.

^ My missus has been ill since Boxing Day. We assume Covid but we have no test kits left. She says it's the worst cold/flu she's ever had - which as we all know is impossible as us men always get it worse. Me, I've been fine though.

Made a huge cauldron of soup this morning. A smoked ham joint for the stock, leek, carrot, turnip, celery and parsley. No cereal or lentils this time. Will get some crusty bread in later. Just the job in this sub zero climate.

I might get to 35 years this year.
But I haven't forgiven her for eating all of the Chocolate Yule Log I bought  Didn't even get a sniff of it - and she doesn't even like the ones covered in thick Chocolate ganache!
