Marcel The Shell With Shoes On

This blend of live action and animation mixes cuteness and pathos and lays it on thick; so this is aimed chiefly at the tweenie market rather than jaded Gen-Xers like me.

It's not in the same class as the likes of, say, the best Pixar movies, but it's a sweet, gentle film, more one I admired than loved.

First episode is promising. You do need to get over the contrivance that makes the whole thing possible. I did.

So finished off series 3 of The Cleaner on the Beeb.

Also whizzed through series 1 and 2 of Strike which I somehow missed when it was first broadcast. Will catch up with the remaining 3 series, and am looking forward to the 6th which is due soon I think.

Tonight (or at least that is the current plan) will be a viewing of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die.

Started Lioness on Sky Showtime, very good so far. Lots of action, nice character development.

Alien: Romulus  It's set between the first and second movies. It's not bad and has all the Alien tropes you'd expect. But it has no feeling or depth. The main lead and the guy who plays the android are OK, but generally the cast are dull. When you think of the original film it was mainly character driven with very little seen of the actual intruder. A shame as it could have been really good instead of just acceptable. I'll never watch it again, unlike the first 2 movies which I've seen many times - I think that sums up this latest effort 6/10

Whizzed through the 10 episodes of Nautilus on Amazon Prime. A very mixed bag and I think it unlikely that there will be a season 2. If there is, I'll watch it, but I won't lose any sleep if there isn't.

Binged the first 3 episodes of Paris Has Fallen last night, hooked in by Sean Harris in the trailer.

Excellent stuff so far.
