^ I can't wait to watch Silo Se02, but I'm hanging on until it's all out. Started on The Penguin tonight. The first episode was brilliant.

Because of the awful weather here today we stayed home and watched a movie this afternoon. Dear Santa with Jack Black. An 11 year kid writes a letter to Santa but as he's dyslexic he writes "Dear Satan" by mistake. Along comes Jack Black as Satan hamming it up as he always does. The premise is a good one and had potential, but was just poorly executed and a missed opportunity. Anyway it killed some time this afternoon. 5/10

Love Lies Bleeding

The main draw of this film for me was that it's the feature sophomore effort of British director Rose Glass, whose striking debut Saint Maud is one of the best psychological horrors of recent years and effusively recommended if you haven't seen it.

This though is more of a throwback noir, with a dark 80s vibe and more than one shot that I'm convinced is in homage to David Lynch (particularly his nightmarish noir Lost Highway).

There's eroticism too as the leading characters, terrifically played by Kirsten Stewart and Katy M O'Brian, fall hard into a relationship and go about righting wrongs, albeit with spiralling consequences, which also brings in Ed Harris's possible mob boss.

It's more of a pot-boiler than the wild ride it may sound, but it's never less than than intriguing, and Glass provides further evidence that she's a formidable talent for whom the sky is the limit.  Watch this space.

Finished The Penguin last night and an excellent show it was too. Both Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti deserve Oscars (as do the make-up artists). A rather nasty ending though which brought everything back to what we really expect of The Penguin. 9/10

Won't be until sometime over the holiday period. Maybe Christmas night itself. Have you seen Violent Night? I highly recommend that, although not family viewing as it is very violent. Die Hard meets Home Alone by way of, er, something very violent.

Owning Manhattan - bit of a guilty pleasure, went through S1 over 2 days.

Started "Say Nothing" promises to be an excellent drama about The Troubles.  Balanced and nuanced
