I installed a new subwoofer today to replace my old Yamaha one and running it through its paces and playing:

Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)
Steven Wilson - Hand.Cannot.Erase
Steven Wilson - To the Bone
Steven Wilson - The Future Bites

I did quite a bit of research on what sub to get. The main thing I picked up on was that speaker manufacturers are not necessarily the best for subwoofers and to get one from a company that only makes subs. So straight away I narrowed it down to 3 makers: Rel, SVS and BK Electronics. I eventually settled on BK Electronics for a few reasons - great reviews, good value for money, designed and made in the UK and they take both an LFe and a high level input. My amp has a sub out so for now it's connected to the LFe, but I'll tinker with the high level connection in the future. This is the XLS300-FF I bought, in black ash and front firing: http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/XLS200.htm

Don't think I've ever listened to five albums back-to-back before, but today I did. While riding a bike.

Very handy to have your entire record collection with you whenever you have your phone on you.

Talc: Licenced Premises Lifestyle
Earth, Wind & Fire: The Best Of, Vol 1
Judas Priest: Stained Class
Style Council: Confessions Of A Pop Group
The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Messa - live at Roadburn. Intriguing. All the live at Roadburns sound fantastic and this is no exception. This is a live representation of one of my favourite albums of last year, Messa's Closer. The use of instruments not often heard in 'rock' (although I use the term lightly, it is really not anywhere near the rock idiom), it makes for a fascinating listen.
