I've always used iPads and felt pretty safe doing so, but I'm about to buy a Samsung tablet (Galaxy A8) as a gift and wondered if antivirus software was needed or recommended. As always, there's conflicting advice online.

That's very reassuring, thank you. I really enjoy new technology but just never got a real grounding in it at any stage, so it still makes me nervous. I should look for a suitable course somewhere now that I have the time.
