Don't quite understand that logic.

The "Honours" system has long been a ridiculous anachronism regardless of who does or does not genuinely merit recognition.

Time to ditch it along with the whole wretched concept of a monarchy.

I like the honours system when it's used properly. It's good that people who have made an outstanding contribution to the arts, culture, politics, the military or whatever can be honoured with a title. Every country has an honours system of some sort, even the US which was born of a revolution away from those old British traditions.
