Just found out that Penelope Isles are supporting Sea Power on their tour next month. Two brilliant bands on the same bill.

This is good news for me, I've been living in Ireland for 19 years now.  Last time I voted was the EU referendum, be nice to be able to vote in UK elections again

I can't understand why you'd have a vote in the EU referendum, didn't know that. Do you pay taxes in the UK, or intend to return here? At the moment I can't see any more justification for this, really. Do you even identify as a "Briton", in the Guardian's terms?

Wow!

Slim

No offence Dom, I just don't understand the justification. What might it be?

I'm British with a British passport. I take an active interest in British politics and society and want to see it do well and prosper!

Not sure about future plans, it may happen I don't know.

I don't pay much UK tax anymore but I did work there for over 20 years.

I actually do understand your reaction but wonder whether its borne from my political beliefs being so different to yours. If I was a flag waving Tory it probably wouldn't bother you so much!

I do think it wrong that foreign nationals, living and working in the UK are not allowed to vote and should have been allowed to for the referendum. I would have exchanged my vote for that cohort to have their right to vote.

Slim

Mixed feelings about your first three paragraphs, but vehemently disagree with the last. It surely couldn't have been right for foreign nationals to have voted in the referendum. Not when such an important constitutional issue was at stake.

Because they have more of a vested interest in the UK than I do.  They are living there and paying taxes, raising kids.  They are contributing to UK society and as a result deserve to have a say in how its run.  If I'm honest, more than I do!  I'm just happy that I still can.

Slim

I could almost buy that argument for General Elections, but not a permanent constitutional matter with sovereignty and self-determination at stake. From my point of view it would be a violation of the very principle we were trying to defend.

So when you vote in a General Election, which constituency will you vote in? Who'll be your MP?

I think its based on where you last lived in the UK. There's been a few boundary changes since I was there but I think it would be Julia Lopez. Must admit I wasn't in that part of the World for long and would be much happier having a say in the Chipping Barnet or Finchley constituencies

Been to gigs on Friday and Saturday with a lovely new lady friend ❤️

Ok, this was almost a week ago but, becoming a first time Grandparent has been particularly amazing. The fact that mum, dad and baby are now back living with us has made it very hands on but, nevertheless, wonderful :)
