So they're Heavy Metal then :)

I like to keep things simple.

Round the time of ADHD I used to describe Riverside as a Heavy Metal Pink Floyd.

A review from someone who has an advanced copy of ID.entity somehow:

I knew Friend or Foe reminded me of something: A-ha of course. I'm not a fan tbh.

The review in Prog Magazine bigs up the A-haness of things :( Mrs S is happy, she likes Riverside AND A-ha.

I thought it started a bit Depeche Modey synth pop to start before A-haing.

Not the first time they've got inspiration from 80s pop. Definite New Order and Depeche Mode feel to some of their earlier material

Enjoying the new album. Really love Friend or Foe with its the Aha influenced intro.

Lots of easily spotted influences on the album especially keyboard wise. Tangerine Dream, John Lord and Tony Banks all in evidence. The introduction to Big Tech Brother sounds very like the Chicago horn section was brought in.

I find the lyrics grate at times and left me squirming a little, especially 'The Place Where I Belong' which spoil a great song imo. I'm wondering whether Mariuz's command of the English language has improved so much that where he sounded opaque and intriguing in the past, now he comes across as awkward and painful.

I've read a lot of criticism of the lyrics, but I can't say as they bother me. Then again I'm not a lyric person and tend to make up my own. Things have to be really bad - like late period NEP - before I find lyrics grating and I do like stuff like Sex with Satan and Sodomise the Dead  ;D

Repeated plays and it is getting better. The lyrics don't bother me as I rarely here meaning in lyrics anyway and just see them as part of the music.

HOW ABOUT A RIVERSIDE TOUR
IN MAY 2024?

Yes, but not on the 28th and 29th when Mrs S is dragging me to York to see Yes and have a meal out.

I don't suppose he is geographically illiterate enough to include Ireland in that?

I'd never heard anything from this band before and enjoyed this. Not what I expected tbh.

Nope. They've been once, why on earth go back again?
