Quote from: pxr5 on October 04, 2022, 12:03:53 PMMine is probably hearing A Farewell to Kings for the first time.

One of my life mysteries is buying this, not liking it particularly, swapping it for Rainbow - Down To Earth and then just a few months later, falling in love with it and everything else Rush.

Yeah, I think if Geddy and Alex ever perform together again it would have to be along the lines of an acoustic set, featuring songs like the softer material from Feedback. Neil always said the band could only last as long as Geddy's voice held out. Wise words as always.

It was a three phase thing for me really;

Pre-teens
T:Rex - Slider (their next album Tanx left me a bit cold).

Teens
Queen - A Night At The Opera: I became fanatical about the band for several years.

Adulthood
Rush - Permanent Waves. Obsessive consumption of their back catalogue and desperation for new releases thereafter. There's nothing that will ever come close to my love for this band.

This talk of singles has made me realise what threw the music switch for me. A pal gave me Jeepster by T.Rex, I think because he was fed up playing it. I remember really liking the B Side too, Life's A Gas. I still love that song. Another friend advised me to buy Slider and that was that. Into music for life via Queen and then Rush.

Massive, inexplicable, half awake schoolboy error on second guess. Can't believe I did that! 😢

A couple of minutes only today. I think I'm about to run out of luck with my guess words though. I don't know where my mind drags them up from. I should try to formulate some kind of system rather than the random hope for the best stuff.

So the IQ position thing is a bit like being vegan then? 😂

Yeah ok, but at least a direct hit would be quicker. However, there exists the possibility in this case of chest beating, that an end result might be that all the tribes are saved from extinction.

I think the air gun pellet would need to be something like 0.02mm for your rough comparison. Mind boggling stuff. A direct hit on a 2mm target with a microscopic bullet from 85 miles away. Again, why are we having such difficulties on Earth when these are our capabilities? Perhaps we need to "pass a noble law" so that only individuals with a qualifying high IQ level can gain power.

I agree with James on this. The World is now in such a state of biblical madness, that for the first time in my adult life I believe that a battlefield nuclear weapon will be deployed at some stage. I think Putin would be ecstatic at The West's inability to respond and it is probably inevitable that an expanding Soviet Republic will result. Perhaps it is the only way that some form of stability might eventually return.

Really heavy persistent rain today. The first in a while, so no dog walking or general pottering about. I must resist the urge to watch / listen to the news all day.
