Thanks for posting, brilliant stuff.  Like Slim, I found it quite emotional in parts...listening to it is like having your life flash before your eyes...

Yeah, watched the first one this morning...good stuff.

Matt Lucas on his own having dinner in Wagamamas in Covent Garden around 1997.

Naseem Hamed walking around in Covent Garden in 1995.

Glenn Mcrory used to pick his kid up from the same school as my Daughter - they were in the same class, actually.  I remember often sizing him up and reckon I could 'have him'  :D

Walked past Paula Yates on the Kings Road in 1997.

Saw Joanna Lumley in Waitrose (might have been Sainsbury's) in Vauxhall around the same time.

Walked past the bloke from A Divine Comedy at a U2 show at Wembley Stadium, also in 1997.

Alan Shearer on my easyJet flight to Portugal in 2012.

Siouxie Sioux in the foyer of Hammersmith Odeon before a Radiohead show.

Stood next to Elvis Costello at the bar backstage at Brixton Academy after a PJ Harvey show.

Billy Zane walked passed me backstage at Shepherds Bush Empire after a PJ Harvey gig in 2001.  He was wearing a blazer and a polar neck.

Had a piss in Bristol airport next to the bloke from Tears foe Fears

Johnny Ball was on the same tourist trip with me in Cairo in 1998ish.  Then he was on my table for lunch on a boat on the Nile.  He was as lovely as you'd think he would be.  Nobody on the table referred to the fact that he was Johnny Ball.

Got a jab from Muhammad Ali in 1977 in a mosque in South Shields.

Steve Cram lived on my estate in the 1980's.  His mum made him get his medals out for me to look at when I happened upon his house whilst collecting money for charity.  He signed a picture for me as well.  He was really grumpy but his mum was very kind.  I think she was German.

Not grumpy..but....
I've found myself getting very emotionally charged when listening to some music...tears will often flow freely.  I'm usually on my own.  It's been a bit of a difficult year, in some respects and a lot of what I listen to really is a portal into previous times, some happy, some sad.  It's made me appreciate the importance of music and just how much it has meant to me since..gosh, 1977 or something.  I've spent much of this year feeling rather sad and anxious, unfortunately.

Never mind, things always work out.

Quote from: Matt2112 on July 01, 2024, 05:54:33 PMYes, seen Maiden a few times since Donny in '88 and I've got to say they were as good last year at Leeds Arena as I've ever seen or heard them.

Metallica have headlined Glasto and they're heavier than Maiden, so why not Maiden? :)
Metallica have a much wider crossover appeal than Maiden.  There's zero chance of them being asked or accepting even if they were.

I think AC/DC were the most obvious rock band that could have been asked...but I think that ship has sailed...unless they play next year - I'm sure the current stadium tour will run on into next year..

If people enjoy it, it's fine.

I couldn't really find much I wanted to watch, but I'm sure I'd have had a great time if I was there.

PJ Harvey is so far ahead of everyone else, it's not even worth discussing.  At this point, she rivals Bowie, The Beatles, Dylan, anyone, really.  She is that good.

I saw a little bit of Fontaines DC and they looked interesting.

I used to love Coldplay but can't stand them now, but credit where it's due, they looked pretty impressive.

Quote from: The Picnic Wasp on June 25, 2024, 11:03:48 AMBit of a bad morning so far. Went online to buy a ticket for the Steven Wilson tour next year. Managed to get my pre-sale password to work straight away and began to peruse availability. It suddenly dawned that I haven't been to a gig since before shielding with this wretched thing during lockdown. I was just about to confirm and buy my seat when all of these doubtful fears started to swirl around my mind. What if I have to tilt my head to cancel the double vision? What will people think? Will the lights be too much for my photophobia? What if it damages my hearing when I already have visual problems? What if I meet someone I haven't seen for ages and they notice my squint? Should I mention it first? Then I realised these were probably all excuses not to take the step. The realisation of this made me close down the site and think about where I go from here. I knew already that this condition had taken its toll on me, but I'm only now beginning to realise just how much it has stolen from me. All that said, there's still the general sale on Friday.
I don't know you but u was really sorry to read this.  I hope you buy a ticket and I hope you have the best time.  Everyone I know is going through something at the moment, life is really quite difficult at times.

Best wishes anyway, pal.

Big collector of signed prints...hang them on the wall, look at them and enjoy them every day really.  Great investment as well.

Quote from: Slim on May 25, 2024, 09:39:14 AMNadine Shah, Filthy Underneath. Nadine is on Jools Holland later this evening.
Kind of known her since she was little.  She was always a nice girl.  I used to snigger when she said she wanted to be a singer.  She's done good, although it's not really my thing.

Coincidentally...I sold a single ticket for Joanna newsom back in 2005 on eBay...met the buyer and it was Nadine...
