2 breaks organised so far. A week in a cottage in May - The Cotswolds, then another cottage break in Northumberland in August.

Finished series 2 of Halo last night. I loved the first series, but this felt a bit flat to me - and confusing at times as well. The action scenes were frantic but a great watch. 6/10 for this series. More to come, possibly the story can continue from where it left off?

Had the decorators in today so I had to keep the hifi volume a lot lower than normal, so decided to play all the Nine Skies albums. I truly love this band - they hit my musical nerve perfectly:

Nine Skies - Return Home (LP, 2017)
BC, SPO

Nine Skies - Sweetheart Grips (LP, 2019)
BC, SPO

Nine Skies - 5.20 (LP, 2021)
BC, SPO

Nine Skies - The Lightmaker (LP, 2023)
5 stars, BC, SPO

Beneath our gazebo in our back garden we have 2 plastic plant-like balls hanging from hooks in the roof. My wife first spotted a tiny little brown bird flying in and out of a small opening on one side. We've started to monitor the ornament and now see the little bird carrying bits and pieces they've collected and with them building a nest inside. It's now completely filled with leaves and moss and I assume it would be a perfect sheltered nest for birds. We mulled about moving it as it's right over our garden furniture but decided to leave it and see if any baby birds start to make an appearance. We're not sure what the bird is, but it's very sparrow-like but thinner and smaller - research has proved fruitless so we've gone with a sparrow. Ain't nature great.

Brilliant album this - like a mad cross between Hawkwind and Killing Joke:

^ 3 Body Problem is my next watch. I'm currently watching series 2 of the excellent Halo. After those 2 probably Avatar: The Last Airbender and the The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Other Music / Re: Bought a CD recently?

I rarely buy CDs these days, but when I really love an album and it's not on vinyl I will still support the band and get the CD - normally from Bandcamp. I think this is the most I've ever paid for a single CD: £24.50 (£18+£6.50pp). It came from France which is why the p&p is so much - took a while to arrive too:

Rush / Re: It Was 50 Years Ago Today
March 19, 2024, 02:48:10 PM
Well, I played this quite recently when following Geddy Lee's autobiography and I still like it. I got into Rush around Hemispheres/Permanent Waves and worked my way back. My sister bought me Archives and it all sounded great to my ears. OK a couple of clunkers (Need Some Love, In the Mood), but then there is Working Man and Here Again. I really like its rawness and naivety. I'd take this over quite a bit of their 80s output any day.

Moving Pictures / Re: How To with John Wilson
March 18, 2024, 09:29:25 PM
I'm watching serries 3 of this. I've concluded that Americans are barking mad. Some of the stuff you see people doing is jaw dropping at times. I've concluded that John Wilson is a genius - he must film 24/7 to capture these events and manages to merge things so cleverly. Brilliant TV.

That was a strange last penalty for France at the end. No replays shown either. A 'no arms' tackle, something that happens constantly without a penalty (and there were a lot in this game). I'd say it was a 50/50 game in the end.
