I like James out of that lot, saw them at the Piece Hall last year.

Yard Act are West Yorkshire's answer to the Arctic Monkeys and may go very far, but neither are really my thing.

I did an annual "Glasto Roast" thread on the old site, so forgive me if I go into sardonic mode if I comment. :)

Best game day so far for me: 2 exacts and a close (had England to draw 2-2).

It's that time of year again!:

Michel Thomas Method Greek

CD 1 of 12

I started right from the beginning to see if I had to pause the CD at any point, which I did only once and then only because the sentence to translate to Greek was relatively long.

Also going through Duolingo which asks to translate some really incongruous phrases the other way round; e.g. "I give the elephant to the women".  It's useful for vocab I suppose. ::)

That last gasp equaliser for Albania has lifted me to the top of the table (for now). :)

Well, that's all the Game Day 1 matches done - all the ones I've seen have been very entertaining so far, with the obvious exception of the one with the Southgate Snoozeball. ::)

Tremendously entertaining game this after 70 minutes and Turkey have scored the top two best goals of the tournament so far!

Has some bi-annual health checks recently, culminating this morning at Leeds General Infirmary's cardiology department.

Turns out my bloods, blood pressure, heart health and the status of the occluder inserted in my atrial septum (I never tire of how naughty that sounds) are all good and normal.

I have one more appointment in 2 years' time when, assuming all is still well, I will be finally discharged for good, almost 11 years after my "cryptogenic cerebrovascular accident". :)

Second one in consecutive days:

I'm currently at my employer's annual awards bash at a hotel in Doncaster and part of the afternoon session's entertainment was two "singing waiters"; I thought one of them looked familiar somehow, then realised he was at an open mic night where we both performed (and conversed) three weeks ago at a pub I've visited only once, and that he calls his local, 40 miles from Doncaster.

Had a good laugh about this over a Guinness with him afterward and swapped contact details for networking purposes. :)

For this year's "summer season" of gigs at Halifax's magnificent Piece Hall, bureaucratic numpties have cynically introduced a last entry time restriction, being an hour before the main act.

Everyone's understandably kicking off about it, but there is a not-widely-advertised option of simply emailing the venue to get your name on a "late entry list", which I did for tonight's Sheryl Crow gig.

Anyway, authorisation was quickly granted, sent by a lady who shares my not-that-common surname.

It's freezing.

Meanwhile today, a potential holiday destination in the Dodecanese peaked at 44C/111F... :-\

Quote from: Matt2112 on May 27, 2024, 08:13:33 PMDavid Lynch has appeared on social media for the first time in almost 18 months - in a short teaser video promising something unspecified being released on "June 5".

I suspect it will mark the resumption of his daily YouTube "weather reports", but hoping for something much more significant.

Turns out he's merely collaborated on an album.  Bit of a let-down that, in all honesty.
