Quote from: Thenop on October 25, 2024, 06:26:40 PMKCs Red, elemental mixes. Weird listen, it's different from what I'm used to, obviously, but it's also very familiar. Starless comes in a well over 14 minute version with just about all tracks recorded for the song, and it's a trompet infested joy to listen to. At least for me it is. The ochestration is brought way upfront which makes the bleakness of the album dissipate completely. The bass is way up as well.Got my copy of this today. So far played the Atmos mix - gets better as it goes along - and the elemental Starless. I love Starless. I love it more than ever.
What is very obvious is that the original album was mixed to suit the performances. By that I mean Bruford and Wetton were a great tandem, but not always in sync, and you hear that quite well here, but not on the orignal mix. Fascinating listen this.
