Any good?
It's OK. Not Great, not bad. OK.

The Dolby Atmos mix on it is awful, he needs some lessons from Steven Wilson.

I've not managed one Fondo all year. Only done one fifty miler. My distance mojo has gone missing. I think the COVID era started the decline, I started doing shorter rides more often and now I start to worry about things going wrong if I'm too far from home.

Got a couple of 33 milers in this weekend, getting back today tow minutes after the 16:42 sunset. Early sunsets now mean I can only watch the women's Cyclocross race before going out. Thank heavens for catch-up.

Quote from: Thenop on October 25, 2024, 06:26:40 PMKCs Red, elemental mixes. Weird listen, it's different from what I'm used to, obviously, but it's also very familiar. Starless comes in a well over 14 minute version with just about all tracks recorded for the song, and it's a trompet infested joy to listen to. At least for me it is. The ochestration is brought way upfront which makes the bleakness of the album dissipate completely. The bass is way up as well.
What is very obvious is that the original album was mixed to suit the performances. By that I mean Bruford and Wetton were a great tandem, but not always in sync, and you hear that quite well here, but not on the orignal mix. Fascinating listen this.
Got my copy of this today. So far played the Atmos mix - gets better as it goes along - and the elemental Starless. I love Starless. I love it more than ever.

VHBs are on the downward slide now, I'll see how the vinyl fares tomorrow.

They had Whsipering Angel at the restaurant at the Royal Albert Hall last night, but I wasn't going to make Mrs S shell out £60 for it. We made do with a very nice (crisp, apply, melony) Pecorino for the bargain price of £40...

Very enjoyable Steve Hackett gig at the Royal Albert Hall last night. First set = solo stuff, Second set = Mainly Lamb Lies down on Broadway then other Genesis stuff.

Got some special guests last night: Brother John put in an appearance, but he always does when I see him since he lives in Sheffield and easily gets to Sheffield/Nottingham/Buxton. Then in Fly on a Windshield Steve Rothery came out to play (no Mrs S, it wasn't Bill Bailey) and then Ray Wilson sang Carpet Crawlers.

Unlike for David Gilmour there wasn't a constant stream of people going for a drink/piss. Probably because the audience was older and they just pissed in their incontinence pants...

Thought I might have been coming down with Slim's Manflu over the last couple of days, but dragged myself out for 20 miles yesterday and felt better for it.

Today, I dragged myself out for 41 miles with 3,195ft of elevation gain at an average speed of 15.3mph and came back feeling worse. Should be averaging 16mph on that bike for that route, but the supposed gentle breeze most certainly wasn't, MyWindsock says I had a 15mph headwind for 40 minutes. Probably a tailwaind for about ten. Still, any mileage is good mileage.

Surprised to find that Paul and Bruce Dickinson only met for the first time this summer.

They were both on at Reading in 1980 when I was there, can't recall if it was the same day though.
