Tragically the magpies will be responsible for a great deal of their demise as they are terrible nest raiders. I've been putting a lot of sunflower hearts, mealworms, seed and peanuts out recently. It's a very rewarding way to spend money and I've seen an increase in robin and dunnock numbers in the garden. But as you say, a lot of crows and magpies too. Very worrying.

We usually see quite a lot of the smaller birds.. just this morning they seemed to have disappeared for some reason

Just done the RSPB birdwatching thing for an hour.. just the usual crows pidgeons and magpies.. where did all the tits robins and sparrows go?
