Excellent stuff so far.

Quote from: pxr5 on June 07, 2022, 10:20:16 PMMoon Knight - Marvel/Egyptian adventures. The premise sounds daft but it's really done quite well. And with only 6 episodes there is little superfluous padding. Oscar Isaac plays the 2 characters well and the action is great. 8/10

Didn't enjoy it and I wanted to after the trailers, started okay and tailed off badly (5/10).

Only one episode of Love,Death & Robots to go...the episode after Masons Rats which was excellent !!
For the first time in years I'm watching a show as it comes out weekly, Obi-Wan Kenobi and really enjoying it so far.
Ozark Season 4 (watching with the wife), only 3 episodes to go.

Downloading The Man Who Fell To Earth as the episodes get released (my 2nd most read book).

I haven't bought any of the 40th Anniversary releases yet but i'll be all in for Signals through to Hold Your Fire/A Show Of Hands.

Quote from: Matt2112 on April 01, 2022, 12:53:08 AMHYF provided the soundtrack to a heady time during my years in secondary school so I have many precious and (hopefully) indelible memories wrapped up in it.

What helped with that immeasurably, of course, is that it's 50 minutes of mostly outstanding melodic rock tracks, chock-full of lush synths (I was originally disappointed that the keys had actually been scaled back compared to the masterpiece that is PoW), with pristinely polished production by Peter Collins (why, why why wasn't he brought in for GUP and Presto?!) and the boys arguably at the peak of their technical powers.

Where I think HYF fared better than PoW is that somehow the transition of its songs to a live setting worked rather more successfully; ASOH is a testament to that, I think.

Tai Shan is clearly the weakest track on HYF, and I'd agree has an incongruity about it not just in the context of the album but also in terms of it being a Rush song at all - but I honestly don't mind it and I find it perfectly palatable.  As I do High Water - I like its cinematic feel and for me it rounds off the album quite neatly.

I'd give HYF KKKKK, just like Kerrang! did back in the day. :)

hear hear !!

Sat my English O Grade on the day of the Hold Your Fire tour show at the SECC, needless to say I didn't really have my mind on my exam (got a C).

Quote from: Matt2112 on May 08, 2022, 09:55:27 PMMost of the above are perfectly respectable by most standards.

I'm guessing pretty much all the proper dance "choons" that I profoundly enjoy (particularly those from the halcyon days of the 90s) would provoke something approaching revulsion amongst my friends here. 😏

Not from me, I was hitting my stride with raves/nightclubs at the start of the 90s !!

The KLF - The White Room is easily my most played LP this year.

The Pentaverate - Mike Myers comedy on Netflix with him playing several characters about a secret Masonic type group.

Only watched the first 2 half hour episodes these past 2 nights and raised a few laughs, working round the clock at the moment (11th 12 hour shift in a row with another 8 to go !!) and can't stay awake for more than 30 minutes before passing out.

Watched a couple of films from Netflix;

Choose or Die....plays out like a long epiosde of Black Mirror about a 1980s computer game (6.5/10)

The Last Stand...can't believe I hadn't seen this, Big Arnie doing what he does best - guns, explosions & sillyness (7.5/10)

All my other favourites already mentioned... Where Eagles Dare, Kelly's Heroes, Ice Cold In Alex, Guns of Navarone.

Some of the modern films have been good....Defiance and Letters from Iwo Jima are two i've watched more than once.
