Quote from: pxr5 on April 17, 2022, 07:26:47 PMFrom - I'm only 2 episodes in so far, but gripped by this drama. I'm worried that it'll go nowhere as many of these US shows do but I'm hoping for an end that's as good as the start. It's basically a town where any one entering (against their will) can't leave and are terrorised after dark by some creepy inhabitants.

Downloaded that last week and next up to watch which will be next week due to work.

Finished Killing Eve Season 3 in the early hours of yesterday morning after blitzing through it over 2 nights (the joys of quiet nightshifts).

Netflix film Black Crab a few days ago, first half hour had me hopeful but starts to go very bad after that (4/10).

Amazon Prime - The Expanse.

Tried to watch it in lock down but the picture was to dark, something about HDR 4k filming. I think amazon have listened to the complaints and now it looks fine.

Finished Killing Eve Season 4.

A hurried, massively anti-climactic mess.  What a shame.

Doctor Who : Legend Of The Sea Devils

Oh dear.

Finished Series 1 of From last night. Really enjoyed it. It definitely has a Lost vibe (which is a good thing IMO), but more gory and scary. Coincidentally Harold Perrineau appeared in both shows (he stars in From). Obviously there are many mysteries and questions - so hopefully it doesn't get cancelled. 9/10.

Quote from: R6GYY on April 17, 2022, 04:35:21 PMJust saw part 2 of the Johnny Worricker trilogy last night (Turks & Caicos). Will plow on with part 3 tonight, "Salting The Battlefield".

Bill Nighy really is an outstanding actor.

If you are unaware of the trilogy, it is well worth checking out. A modern spy story.

Worricker trilogy DVD on Amazon

Available to watch for free via the imdbtv app, with adverts.
I caught the first episode by accident when it first came out. It is brilliant (in a John Le Carre way) and I was completely hooked.

Oh dear.
It was very average wasn't it. A good idea badly done.

Friday night was movie night. So we watched The Batman. Hmm, it's got good reviews and it was refreshing going back to basics (a reset); the baddy (The Riddler) was the best part and The Penguin makes an appearance too; Robert Patterson is very good as is Zoe Kravitz. So far so good. But, it's too long (3 hours); it's dark too both the moody sort and the visible - yes it's 3 hours of darkness, I only recall a very brief time when it was ever daylight and even then it was grim. All in all it's not a bad effort, but be prepared for a long drag (I'm glad I didn't go to the flicks to watch it). A kind 7/10

Watched a couple of films from Netflix;

Choose or Die....plays out like a long epiosde of Black Mirror about a 1980s computer game (6.5/10)

The Last Stand...can't believe I hadn't seen this, Big Arnie doing what he does best - guns, explosions & sillyness (7.5/10)

I agree that it is way too long. I did go to see it at the cinema, and in Imax.
If they were to trim at least a 1/2 hour, it would make for a punchier experience and be all the better for it. I did like Robert Pattinson as the Batman mind you.

Also, I just don't get the point of Colin Farrell being unrecognizable as the Penguin. Why?

Not one for re-watching.

Maybe I've been spoiled by Gotham (although I still haven't finished it).

Speaking of Gotham - I was a tad annoyed that whoever made the film ignored that "The Bat And The Cat" knew each other in their teens. Meh.

Will I go and see the inevitable sequel? Of course.

Rufus_the_dawg

Is gotham worth it? Marks out of 10 please.

If you like cartoons then Arcane on Netflix is brilliant. https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81435684

Hmm... I enjoyed Gotham a lot. But I never got around to finishing it.

I haven't seen any of season 5, and nor all of season 4.

So I need to go back and catch up.

Try a couple of episodes of season 1 and see if you are interested.

Uncharted - Totally forgettable of what could have been so much more - what a waste. The ending was quite good visually though, but failed in pretty much all other departments. Tom Holland was his usual charismatic self, Mark Wahlberg wasn't. 5.5/10

The first episode of the new series of Inside Number Nine. Not very good this one and hopefully it'll improve.
