A stunning achievement stunningly depicted.

The recovered footage looks extraordinary and the events are all the more effectively depicted by not having any intrusive narrative voiceover offering hindsight - it is all impressive and profound on its own terms; it's a triumph of the past speaking for itself.

It's almost perfection - my only issue was that the music didn't quite live up to scenes and events it accompanied; but still, there's plenty of gob-smacking moments that make this superb documentary essential viewing.

Rating: ****

Bought the BluRay a couple of years ago. Must watch it again.

The Star Trek franchise is getting to be a bit like Superman .. can't keep up with all the spinoffs.

Silo finished now. Cracking ending to a great series.

Tonight's most excellent viewing was Mission Impossible : Rogue Nation.

Chris McQuarrie significantly (in my eyes at least) raised the franchise a few levels with this instalment, and then again with the 6th (Fallout).

And boy oh boy, Sean Harris is so scary.

So next weekend it will be Fallout at home, leading nicely into the cinematic release of Dead Reckoning Part 1 on July 10th.

Just finished too. And yes an amazing, twist of an ending - I never saw that coming. I notice that Silo is based on the books by Hugh Howey, I may give them a go.

Just tracked down and watched a feature length documentary on YouTube called "The Coffee Man".

Only of interest to fellow coffee nerds!

We've started watching the original 1st series of Mission: Impossible, from 1966.

It looks so very primitive now - very much of the time. A bit like watching the original Star Trek I should think.

Filmed in a time when smoking was still 'cool' or 'hip', and the sexist attitudes regarding the use of Cinnamon (Barbara Bain) are definitely (I hope) a thing of the past.

My memory is obviously very vague about the series, as I thought that Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Leonard Nimoy all appeared together in episodes but this couldn't have been, as Martin Landau and Barabara Bain left after series 3, and Leonard Nimoy came on board in series 4 (I guess to effectively replace Martin Landau's 'master of disguise' character?).

Anyway, we will persevere with it with an episode here and there.
