Second stage win for Milano, the Ciclamino Monster today. Peleton never allowed the breakaway much of a gap - half of the Visma Leaseabike team in the break - and Ineos steered them through a messy approach to the finish.

People still speculating about Pogi being a bit off as he coughed in the post-race interview and his nose looked a bit red...

Somebody's put last night's Birmingham show on Youtube.

Some of my mates were there and they said Mariusz's vocals were quite low in the mix and they sound like it on this, yet they were fine on the other side of the stage.

Yes, good to see Valentin emulating his brother with a Giro stage win.

TV commentators were wondering if Pogi is tiring because he just followed at the end, but Luke Rowe thinks he's just being conservative. If he was on a bad day it hasn't harmed him.

Riverside were simply stunning in Birmingham last night. They weren't too bad in Norwich on Sunday, but last night was special. Gone was Polish Melancholy and in its place full on Powerful, Pogoing Metal, maybe a slight exaggeration, but not far off it. Mikal Lapaj must be the happiest man in ROCK, never looks like he's not enjoying himself.

I think an enthusiastic audience helps, I don't normally like whooping hollerers, but the bloke next to me really got Riverside going. He was ENTHUSIASTIC, made Captain Ron look like a wallflower. He also thought that I must be a Rock Star, because of my deportment :)

And how could I forget, trains willing I do it again three times next week :)

Like living in Switzerland today, both trains I caught were prompt to the second :)

Travelling from Norwich to Birmingham by train. Stuck on Peterborough Station now.
Train which I should have changed to hit someone in track, now got long delays.
Might make the Riverside encore tonight.

Quote from: Slim on May 11, 2024, 11:49:45 AMIn other news - I must say I find it distasteful that Israel have been allowed to take part, in the present circumstances. Classic Israeli selfish disregard for other people of course, considering the trouble they've caused. Hopefully the crowd will make their feelings known.
Being as Israel isn't in Yurp, they should just feck right off anyway.
Have the Crims been sent packing this year.

Once saw the lovely Laura outside Cafe Adventure in Hope with her mates. She was on a proper road bike then.

Didn't get as far as Hope myself today as once again I was too bus watching professional cyclists riding up hills in another day's armchair travel. Did pop out for a couple of hours though, still a bit warm but thankfully there was a bit of a cooling breeze.

Did a very similar 35 miles to last Saturday, but went up to the Moors through Cutthorpe rather than Old Brampton. No Cuckoos about today, but a Tawny Owl was hooting up towards what was the Gate Inn. Gets me to 275 miles for May and I'm somehow still ahead of 2021's tally at this point.

Another Pogi win  :)

Closer though today, I think there may have been a lot of suffering from yesterday's TT

I don't know if I can cope with this warm sunny weather! Just doesn't feel right after the year we've had so far and my head feels cooked. I suppose I shouldn't really complain.

Got to make the most of it, because I've got five Riverside gig in ten days coming up, so got to work those legs as much as possible. Could have worked them harder as it was just 40 miles today, but I've not been doing many of those and at least my ride was quicker than the last time I did it, even with a snarled up Chesterfield town centre.

Up on Beeley Moor I heard my first Cuckoo of the year. In fact the first Cuckoo I've heard in five years as I'm sure I haven't heard one since COVID struck. Hopefully it can find a mate so their chick can empty a little bird's nest.

Quote from: Thenop on May 09, 2024, 06:17:12 PMAnyway, TT tomorrow let's see how that works out. I am hoping G will actually come out of his shell.
I think G's shell was weighing him down. Obviously I'm not a DS on a cycling team, but when I saw G was riding a single chain ring with 66 teeth I said to Mrs S that it was too much for an old man. It might be OK for a powerhouse like Ganna, interesting that Pogi rode a double chain-ring set up.

Feel sorry for Ganna, all that time in the hot seat, then the last man out beats you.
