Philips sent me a £10 off discount code when I registered my new shaver. I just went to order some cleaning pods only to discover the code isn't valid for accessories.

I thought I had a good understanding of the term perfect storm until this past week proved that I didn't have a clue. On Friday a learner driver pulled out of a junction and hit my sister's car. A fair bit of damage but thankfully no injury sustained. Insurance claim duly put into process, her MOT is also due so there's been numerous calls trying to get the repair garage to liaise with the MOT station trying to figure out the logistics. On Sunday she fell on icy stairs outside my home and injured her back so badly that she can't get out of bed and is on powerful pain medication. The next day building work which I have waited almost a year for unexpectedly started, meaning both my front and rear gardens are no longer dog secure. My 10 stone Freddie and my sister's large, wired to the moon dog are both here and need to be taken out on the lead individually on a regular basis. I hadn't managed a weekly shop so I have had to visit the local supermarket on foot a couple of times a day. This is because the weather is very bright this week and I can't drive in those conditions due to light sensitivity. As is usual with builders they are always demanding. Forgetting essentials like extension cables etc and always looking for help and guidance despite making me several thousand pounds poorer. My car was booked into a local garage for its MOT and had to go in today as no other slots available, so I dropped it off really early before the sunshine became a problem for me. Then expensive taxi back as the builders called to say they needed an earlier start than usual and they needed access to power. To top things off my atrial fibrillation kicked off quite badly today. No doubt stress related and a sudden increase in my mileage on foot. I feel really sorry for my sister as she's guilt ridden having to ask me to do dozens of things for her but she would do the exact same for me if things were reversed. Also received a snide text from the original builder who must have heard through the grapevine that I had switched to another firm having waited eleven months for him to no avail. Fingers crossed for the next few days.

Ordered essential food / pet supplies online as I still can't really leave the house due to my sister's injuries and the builders being here randomly. Tesco delivered late last night. The spend came to a few pence under £100. When I received my lockdown deliveries £100 of groceries took quite a while to sort out and put away. It only took five minutes last night. Quite worrying.

Terrible sleep with a stinking cold brewing from yesterday. Resistance probably low after a manic two weeks. Did a test last night which showed negative. I was hoping it might be a mild covid to get this monkey off my back. Will try another tonight or tomorrow.

Actually, bit more than grumpy. Just had a text from one of my best mates, a mutual friend collapsed with a cardiac arrest whilst playing football last night. He's had a stent fitted and is in an induced coma. Praying for Dave to pull through

My 86 year old mum who has dementia may have bowel cancer. Her gp has detected 2 major indicators. She'll be going for a scan soon to confirm.

Early days at the moment so hopefully it won't be too serious and no point borrowing trouble.

She doesn't seem to be suffering at the moment and is her normal contented stuff.

Its me and my sister who'll be talking to the medical staff. Doesn't seem that long ago that I'd be relying on her for all my needs.

Really does ram home how fleeting and fragile life is.
