Just listened to Vapor Trails on Spotify. Highly under-rated imo and it's better than anything they came up with subsequently.

Odd thing though Freeze, part IV of Fear didn't play. No bad thing as it is dire, but wondering why?

Covid booster?

As things stand, no. Must admit, my perception on big pharma has changed somewhat over the last year. Along with blood pressure and blood thinner medication since I had the stent last year, I've also been prescribed statins.

Looking into this medication has made me realise that they probably do more harm than good. The cholesterol that lined my arteries was due to my over consumption of sugar and was the result of inflammation which caused the lining of my blood to be plastered in the stuff.

If there's a fire, you wouldn't try to prevent the smoke! That's what statins do. They treat the symptom, not the cause. Cholesterol is actually a vital part of our metabolic system and shouldn't be suppressed.

Due to the over consumption of sugar, and highly processed foods (alcohol and smoking too) we constantly cause damage our bodies.

I'm not really into conspiracies but I think we need to look at the shit put out on supermarket shelves and the resulting medication needed as a result of consuming it. Big pharma and big food companies in league together? Wouldn't surprise me.

Nice to start the season with a bit of silverware. Yes it's only a glorified friendly and the win was only achieved on penalties after a 102nd minute deflected goal led to an equaliser. But a win is a win, especially against Guardiola's City. Team looked solid too.

Thankfully a Kraut and a Canuck prevented a Froggo 1-2-3 in the men's. That would have stuck in the craw, they all belong in the FFL

I don't share these usually but I've never gotten 5 letters all in the wrong place before!

Didn't know you were a Wordler, Dom. Perhaps we can persuade you to take part in one of our occasional competitions.

For sure!  Keep me informed!

Going to listen to Grace for the first time this afternoon!

The 90s don't hold much of a place in my heart musically.  Find it quite hard to tie much down to that period bar Radiohead and the Rush output over that period.

Enjoyed the first episode of Silo and Hijack.  Just seems to be so much out there to watch these days.

Saw The Pope's Exorcist.  Very impressed with Russell Crowe's Italian (and English with an Italian accent)

Quote from: Slim on July 31, 2023, 08:54:01 AMHelmets are overrated. In 40,000+ miles of cycling my head's never collided with anything of greater mass than a wasp or a twig. I do wear one occasionally but more often than not a cap or dutt is more suitable.
I always wear a helmet. I'm too afraid of Mrs S not to. They might helped prevent concussion in a low speed fall, but anything serious and they are worthless.

I fell off the bike a couple of months ago - completely my fault - ended up with a cut above the lip and various bruises.  I'm almost certain that the helmet (the first point of impact) saved me a trip to the hospital at least!  First fall in approx 5 or 6 years and the helmet wearing was 100% worth it.

If that wasn't enough of an incentive, just like your missus, Louise would be fuming if she saw me leave or come back without wearing one.

It's a bit like seatbelts.  It's pretty unlikely that they will be required on any single journey, but if they are are you'll be very grateful for having them.

Same goes for contents and buildings insurance

if it's any consolation , you're probably not really hungry.  It's just ghrelin, the hunger hormone, telling your brain that you are.  Human bodies are designed to be capable of going for long periods without food;  so if dinner is still a while off tell ghrelin to piss off!  ;D
