Very sobering posts - carpe diem, indeed; best wishes to all.

Good to be reminded to check your prostate though?

True enough, albeit couched in a story of an obscenely privileged crank who has never had, and will never have, any concerns about his personal healthcare provision.

Bought tickets last March for the family to see Life of Pi at the theatre royal - cancelled an hour before.  The final performance of a 4 night run as well...

Never mind, £225 back in my account and home watching the Newcastle match..

I remember watching Life Of Pi in 3D in the cinema. The digital projector kept "crashing" in the middle section of the film, so on it finally reaching its end the duty manager handed out vouchers for a complimentary future visit, for the dozen or so of us in attendance. So effectively I also got my money back. :)

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has left hospital almost two weeks after having abdominal surgery.

More stuff that's nowhere near news..

After a truly gruesome period of 4 months our neighbour across the street has died from Kahler disease, a form of bone marrow cancer.
It is an unreal experience, she was a painter, her work was mainly fields of flowers in bloom, very colourful and lively. And big canvases too, beautiful work.

The saddest thing is her husband lost his previous wife to cancer as well.

Life is precious and here to live people, I feel like doing something that makes me feel alive.

Really sorry to hear. I think about my own mortality a lot more than I used to.

It does seem somehow more sad when we lose talented, creative people, especially to a cruel random illness. I still live in the hope that a memorable piece of music will bubble up in my mind one day. I think it would be a big regret for me if I don't achieve that. Some of my lyrics please me to an extent but I'm looking for more. And yes, as the years whoosh by it's difficult to keep the mind from straying into unwelcome territory.

Yes me too. It's inevitable and why I'm retiring in the summer.

Me as well.  I think I have done since 2010 when my dad died.  But definitely more in the last few years;  I certainly feel a lot older.

Unfortunately, retirement isn't really an option for at least another decade, if ever.

Don't we all at our age...

And things like Thenop has posted keep bringing it back into your mind. I keep telling Mrs S we need to do more because time's running out, but she's like a lead weight at times.
