Travelling by the Public Omnibus >:(

Saw Hawkwind in London yesterday and due to engineering works on the Midland Mainline I'd booked a convoluted way home Kings Cross > Doncaster > Sheffield > Chesterfield.

Then the bloody overpaid already train drivers called a strike to try and make themselves even more overpaid. Luckily the leg to Doncaster still ran, from there it would be a bus to Sheffield and a bus to Chesterfield.

The only good bit of the bus journey was the ease of finding the requisite bus stop. The bad was the people on the journey, it was like a new circle of Hell. I cannot begin to describe the horrors of the great unwashed. And truly many of them were. Especially Middenhead McNulty. I did feel sorry for the bloke at first but...

Then at Sheffield a bloke asked Mrs S how long until the Chesterfield bus, when told "20 minutes" he went out and had some kind of roll-up. He came back in like a Zombie, shuffled around and then laid out on the floor. Thankfully he hadn't come round enough to board the bus when we left. Mrs S, god bless her, left a bottle of water in his shopping bag.

Hopefully you washed the Ulez filth from your hair, assuming you have running water in the North. ;)

Of course we have running water in the North. It falls perpetually from the sky :)

I've just realised we've not had a single barbeque this year. We've had a lot on our plate with our house and the ex rental, but still.....bums.

Looking at the forecast I think you might still have a chance in the next few days. Whereas up here the promised torrential rain started last night and is forecast to last for days. Local roads are already flooded this morning.

Hopefully by tonight this post might migrate to the What's Made Your Day thread. Got my 'flu and covid vaccinations yesterday evening. Went to bed hoping I'd react better this time around, feeling no ill effects. Woke during the night feeling awful. The usual fluey symptoms but this time my covid right arm very painful, much more so than before. I was a bit nervy when told it was the up to date Moderna as that wasn't too pleasant first time. Still, that's it done now and I'm very grateful for it.

My rented bluray of Dune (2021) arrived through the letter box today.  I was looking forward to re-watching it ahead of seeing Dune: Part Two in the cinema, only to learn its release has been put back to March 2024. :-\

Finally given up on 2 LPs I ordered through Bandcamp from a guy (one man band) in Sheffield. Claiming failing health in public, which may well be the case, but being on repsonsive while posting on other message boards is just pissing me off.

More fool me, pay better attention next time.
Unfortunately payment was made last December so even Paypal cannot help me, although I'll try that as alast resort.

Funny, I have ordered so much stuff over the years from every corner of the world, and I never got burned like this.

Never trust a DeeDah (Someone from Sheffield) that's all I can say.

Denial. No one wants to believe still that what was once a good idea has been taken over by a billionaire cry baby that throws his toys out of the the pram whenever he doesn't get his way.
And this is me being nice.

Being a complete Luddite I sometimes try to close the page by clicking the X. There's probably stuff written about this but I feel I'm the only one.
