Sorry to hear that. I absent-mindedly drove the wrong way round a roundabout in full view of a gendarme in Dieppe ten years ago, but fortunately I had a gun in the glove compartment so I shot him.

Shit! I'll have to watch that, I'll be driving there in just over a week. Anywhere near Ciutadella?

I was on my way there...it's a bugger finding parking once you get there too...

We've (supposedly) got parking at our hotel there so hopefully that will be the least of our problems

Not grumpy really, but...the anxiety of having children who are 15 and 16 (nearly 16 and 17) and being VERY anxious about what the future holds for them and how they will deal with what gets put in their way.

I should stop being anxious about it all, really...

Got to go on a speed awareness course after being caught speeding in Cornwall. Looks like I can do it online though. I'll keep my tourist spend in Devon next year.

My wife did one a couple of months ago and thought it was quite good. Be careful though as they seem to know when you don't pay attention (fiddling on a phone or browsing another website). No idea how, but my wife said there was a guy who kept getting bollocked and threatened with being binned off.

I'm not really taking about that...I'm talking about what THEY are going to do in the future...rather than the world being a shitty place...

I think you should take comfort from the fact that the world's leadership might improve in the future. I think we've been unlucky with those in charge the past couple of decades, who despite all their bluster don't really have the planet's real needs in mind. We might also get rid of a couple of the crazier ones along the way too. Fingers crossed.

Not so much grumpy as quite saddened. A lot of videos are appearing in my YouTube feed just now about Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia. I had no knowledge of this area before. I've always been aware that the US had a widespread drug and deprivation problem, but this is like something from another world. Also, some of the comments as usual are quite shameful. Surely America's wealth could do something to help.

Quote from: pxr5 on August 29, 2023, 01:27:43 PMA wasp nest in the soffit space of our house. The annoying fuckers are everywhere and coming in open doors and windows. Thankfully these ones are quite slow and small. I'd put up with them but the wifey hates them with a passion. So our friendly exterminator came out earlier and squirted a load of wasp death juice into the hole. If they aren't gone in 2 days he'll come back for free (he says he never gets more than 1 recall a year if they aren't all dead, he's that good apparently and has great recommendations). We'll see, but they look aggrieved at the moment - swarming everywhere, which is normal wasp man says.
OK our wasps' nest is deceased. But they are coming from everywhere now. There must be so many active nests around us. I'm killing up to 50 a day that are getting inside the house. Again though they are small and easy to squidge. Our youngest Dachshund girl, Bella, managed to get herself stung on her left paw though. Here she is feeling a bit sorry for herself:
