And they shake their little bottoms and do a little dance when you revive them with a spoon of sugared water.  Cute little fuckers.

An insect the word cunt was made for.

Every fucking year, plagued with them. Destroying my beautiful lawn with their mounds of finely-graded earth. Nothing seems to touch them, apart from boiling water............which destroys the grass too!

Absolutely.

One of the bastards stung me on my shin during ride today. I felt it, but was at a junction so didn't look right away, then I looked down and saw the little bugger repeatedly jabbing me took me ages to flick it away too  >:(

Ants, bees and wasps are all part of the order Hymenoptera.

When you get flying ants - and I'm sure the buggers will soon emerge in my kitchen- they look very much like lots of the solitary Wasp species.

The little buggers have flitted! They've all come out from under the skirting board in the dining room >:(

Didn't half scare the budgie...

We had some emerging from a gap between two patio tiles a few weeks ago. Harsh chemicals and boiling water were used.

Hot water and bleach sorted the little bastards out in our garden..

I've never seen those mounds you describe. Maybe it doesn't happen up here. Sounds fascinating.

The Picnic Wasp

I like ants. Could watch them for ages. Got some which nip in and out of a crack in the concrete of my front path. They don't seem to do any harm but I've never seen them indoors which could be problematic.

Every year we get the same thing .. piles of sandy dust where they've emerged from between the patio tiles. Annoying. There must be billions of the buggers down there.

And they are all looking up thinking with their hivemind: there must be billions of these giants up there, everywhere we want to emerge they put a kettle on to try and get rid of us. But we shall prevail in the end! Let's see who has the last laugh in 46000 years!

I'm sure they're not pre-occupied with self-flagellation like we are. The human race will probably be wiped out, ultimately, from stress-related illness
