Well, yesterday actually. Lifted the wife's e bike from the car and my back gave out.
Feels like I am in one of those 'nothing can go right' stretches.

That's a shame and yes these things always seem to happen in phases for some reason. I was worried when I hurt my back a couple of years ago but its power of recovery is incredible and usually quite quick if you're careful for a while. One of my lifestyle changes was to always use a trolley instead of a basket in the supermarket. I usually buy more than I initially intend and I think that unbalanced load is particularly bad for the back. Hope things pick up for you soon.

Yes, there's an awful lot to be said for always trying to be balanced. I use a rucksack and try to remember to put it on properly rather than have it flung over one shoulder.
Did a manual handling course at work a few weeks ago. It seems so simple and so based in common sense but......remembering to put it all into practice is the biggest challenge!

Hope you get a stretch of Nothing Can Go Wrong and are recovered soon, best wishes.

Quote from: Slim on July 21, 2023, 08:28:37 PMLogged into my TP-LINK router and noticed that there's a later revision of the firmware available. So I clicked the update button. I knew the router would reboot but I didn't expect what amounted to a factory reset. Had to enter all the details again from scratch - BT login, DHCP settings and reserved addresses, admin password, the lot.
And of course, although I'd forgotten about them until this morning - my port forwarding settings. All blown away without warning, just had to put one of the forwarding rules back. I use it to set up reverse SSH tunnels to a customer site. Makes it a bit easier to log in there.

If you're wondering why the most recent handful of posts have disappeared from this thread - they've gone to start a new thread entitled "Climate Change". Hope no-one minds.

Jumped out to pick up some USB sticks to use in the car (don't ask) and looked cross eyed and picked up 1 USB-c's... Which in itself is fine, just not for the intended use.

Apart from the one that resides here, of course

Nat West/Coutts. They don't get it, do they? They just don't f**kin' get it.

The boss of Coutts 'resigns' and issues a statement saying handling of the case had "fallen below the bank's high standards of personal service"

No, no and thrice no!

The issue here is nothing to do 'handling a case', it is to do with the bank you run withdrawing services from a person whose opinions you dislike.

And this business of being allowed to 'resign'. Like Alison Rose, this was not a resigning issue. Both brought the bank into disrepute. That's an offence worthy of dismissal. What's the betting each of them will collect hefty amounts of 'severance' pay? With the bank being 40% owned by the taxpayer, we know where much of that will be coming from. Bankers - F**king c***ts, the lot of them

I dislike the ubiquitous European wasp as much as anyone, but on the whole they are fascinating creatures. Interestingly, most wasp species are solitary - they don't build nests or have queens and colonies of workers. Some of them reproduce by burrowing their eggs into other species, sometimes spiders. One species has to fight and overcome a tarantula in order for the next generation to exist.

I believe they're one of the longest-surviving species (or group of species) on the planet; hundreds of millions of years. Ants are descended from the early wasps.
