Dry January's Over  :)

I can get back to drinking wine stronger than 13%  ;D

If you're going to do something, do it half-heartedly!

Openreach laying fibre on our estate - at bloody last.

Bought myself a waaaay too expensive jacket, Italian made. You only live once. (And yes I have been imprinted upon me from very early on: you can only spend it once, I am aware..).

I'd double booked a weekend away with friends and the pretenders gig and just learned that the pretenders gig has been postponed to December.  Yay.

A couple of coffees and great catch up this afternoon with two friends I hadn't seen for years.

Greece has just transcended its deeply embedded Orthodox Christian identity and legalised same-sex marriage.

Thank Zeus for that!

Two of us on the decaf though. The things we take for granted when young. Makes me think crazy thoughts like, would I swap ten years of my natural process ongoing, for five years living without the worrying shackles of this emerging person? However, just popping over to the what are you listening to thread to reinforce the fact that everything is ok.

Got an Inheritance Tax refund from HMRC today, which I was owed due to a careless error on my part when dealing with my dad's estate.

Only taken 14 and a bit months from when I submitted the IHT reclaim form.

We have a shower in the spare room ensuite, but it rarely gets used. I tried to use it myself this evening, only to find that the hot water wasn't working.

I felt sure that it was due to an air lock in the hot water system somewhere. So I tried the trick that a plumber showed me years ago - turn the hot and cold on at the same time and force the cold water up the hot pipe, to clear the air. I took the shower head off and jammed my thumb over the end of the hose. It didn't work.

Then I had an idea. I turned the tap fully to 'hot'. Nothing happened of course. I put the end of the shower hose in my mouth and sucked. I got a mouthful of air. I did it again. I heard a faint gurgling in the pipework. I kept going. A trickle of hot water spluttered out. I left the end of the hose in the base of the shower and let it run a minute. It spluttered .. hot water started to flow, in fits and starts at first then in a nice, constant, powerful stream.

New career plans are being made I see.
