We've come to a restaurant in the Highlands and there are two people from Hartlepool serving us. I often say that there are more monkey hangers outside the town than in it.

Walked into a cheapo store, the sort that sells pegs, shopping trolleys, Chinese plastic tat, batteries and incense sticks. Blaring out behind the counter was a bootleg recording of 2112.

Some decent weather for a change.

Technically today (as I start to type this), but the very short story from late last night:

arrived in Perissa, Satorini pretty late last night, very hungry indeed;

all but one establishment seemed open;

we asked if they could fix us up a quick snack and they said they could throw together a feta cheese salad with dips and pitta bread - fine;

then my little 'un and I started conversing with our fantastically friendly server in Greek - this seemed to change the game somewhat, and in the end we were served the salads, plus a 12" pizza and a lovely warm pot of moussaka.  And ice cream for dessert, which was on the house.

This is why I keep coming back to this country. :)

A coastal walk from Beer to Branscombe and back, along the Jurassic coast. Including a quick sea swim.

The wonders of a good VPN - I can enjoy my usual weekend sports betting flutters and watch a live stream of Halifax Town's game this afternoon (at 5pm...) using perfectly legitimate websites.  :)

A load of clothes taken to the charity shop.  Quite cathartic, albeit I do find it hard to part with stuff that has no faults.

Just returned from a trip down to Southsea with the in-laws.
It was primarily to take my eight-eight year old father-in-law around the D-day museum. A wonderful exhibition of every element of that huge undertaking on our behalf. What an educational and humbling experience.
Whilst we were both visiting the museum, Clare and her mum enjoyed a long walk along the seafront in the bracing sea air, watching the Hovercraft and ferries to and from the Isle Of Wight.
We all enjoyed a (late) fish and chip lunch at the Deep Blue restaurant on the pier. Home by 6:30pm, helped by the light traffic. A great day out

Just done similar myself,had a clear out(always think I should eBay stuff and get some cash back), but giving it to a charity shop is so much easier and more worthwhile.

Woke up at about 0700 and kept drifting in and out of sleep .. was 1000 before I realised it. Still felt tired. I wanted to get up by 0830 or so.

I meant to post this in the "grumpy" thread but actually we had un-forecast heavy rain at about 1100. I would have gone out on a bike if I'd got up early, and got caught in it. So this turned out quite nicely and I posted it in the right place after all.
