To be honest I'm not sure it's getting the attention it still deserves here. It hasn't gone away. My main concern is that the false impression that it has might deter people from getting their boosters in the Autumn.

Yes, that's a concern. That and the fact that folk don't seem to test when they have a 'flu type illness any longer.

Quote from: The Picnic Wasp on July 08, 2023, 11:57:02 AMReceived a very nice marketing email fro Julian Richer, MD of Richer Sounds. Rather than just the usual "we're brilliant" blurb, or even worse, asking me to complete a survey, he described in detail the difficulties his, and other high street retailers are facing. He states quite clearly his opinion of the role the government play in all of this and although he mentions that he has been a Tory donor in the past, he doesn't hold his punches and is clearly very unhappy about the amount of unpaid tax affecting the UK economy. It's a fairly long commentary detailing many of the problems faced by the poorer in our society and quite uplifting to hear a voice with conscience from within the business community.
I got that too and very well put. Richer Sounds are my go to for tech (unless they don't sell what I want of course), my last 2 TVs were from there.

Just looked up and read Richer's piece. I'm always suspicious of people bemoaning "inequality", and I remember Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's wise words:

"Human beings are born with different capacities. If they are free, they are not equal. And if they are equal, they are not free."

Will you be getting yours? I recall you swerved it earlier this year.

Yes, I will - unless I get a dose of COVID in the meantime, which is why I didn't bother last time.

Picked up a bottle of root beer from Aldi earlier today. I recall being so excited on trying it when I was young, having heard it mentioned in American films so often. I was so disappointed when I hated it. I had a feeling that I would enjoy it now and I was right. Germolene meets bubble gum would be my best take on it. I've never heard of it being used as a mixer for spirits and wonder what it might sit well with.

Yes, regardless of what we were told, natural immunity is effective

So..our PM is finally leaving, 13 years on his reign is now coming to an end. Finally, new elections on the horizon in November, let's see what happens.
A country always get the people they deserve, not that they need so hopefully finally we get someone decent.
Lots of political chatter everywhere, debates heating up, I think I'll avoid the news programs for a while. All the same anyway and politicians? Well, they all sell snake oil.

Good to see Novak getting a hinderance  call made against him.. the amount of grunting ..shouts ..yell made not just by him but others is getting ridiculous.. some of the noises by woman make the game unwatchable

He's not been cleared...they've just dropped the case because one of the main witness has got cold feet...

He has been cleared; that's a simple legal fact.
