Wonder whether having 3 US GPs is an attempt to move away from some of the more despotic nations involved in the F1 calendar such as Saudi, Abu Dhabi and Russia?

Wonder whether the Russian GP will be cancelled this year.  Money does seem to be the number 1 "driving" factor when it comes to F1.

Quote from: Jonners on March 30, 2022, 10:51:47 AMMiddletown Dreams, such a wonderful song. Cant get behind AL, just a bit "wet and tinkly" for my liking
To me its their most emotional song, both lyrically and musically

I'd happily argue for any one of Natural Science, Middletown Dreams or Available Light

Even with the brighter evenings I think that's March done. Bike has gone in for a service (brake pads and handlebar tape, gear check etc) so I'm not sure when I'll get it back. Steady progress has seen me get to 407kms for the year with 175 of those in March. (Yes I know Slim virtually managed my whole monthly total with one trip but we are where we are!)

Hoping for at least 250kms in April but we'll see how we get on.

2 idiot drivers on the spin on Saturday.  Both thought they could see round corners and knew better than me that they could go past even though I was signalling for them not to do so.  Both forced the cars I could see coming to brake to avoid a collision. Mindless!

Beautiful day with very little wind to speak of made it a very pleasant trip

Rush / Re: Hold Your Fire - album discussion

To me Power Windows is a work of genius and Hold Your Fire doesn't come close to matching it.

Nothing like the drop in quality as Yes managed 10 years or so earlier when they came up with the truly awful Tormato after the genius of Going For the One but still a drop.

I actually like the first couple of tracks,  Force 10 has a good feel to it and Time Stand Still is a well composed pop song, that benefits from Aimee Mann's vocal.

Open Secrets has a Coldplay feel to it to me and is passable,  but the likes of Lock and Key, Mission, and Turn the Page suffer from the keyboard/production issue for me.  They just sound too cloying to these ears.

Less said about Tai Shan and High Water the better.

I don't think there's a single song on there that would be worthy of inclusion on the previous album.

Do they come clean, like beardless? Seem to remember my dad spending ages scrubbing them. As a result I've always bought them prepared in a sauce.

Never got on with this album. My least favourite from the eighties. Not sure whether its the keyboards or the production that let it down but the sound feels soft or cushioned like it was recorded in a studio full of cotton wool

From the biggest clubs in the World to one a fair bit smaller. A bit of sympathy is required for Dover. They didn't have the finances to complete last season without fans and were punished with a 12 point deduction. After 28 matches they've got themselves to minus 4 prior to a tricky looking trip to high flying and Hollywood backed Wrexham.

Wrexham quickly went 2 up before Dover scored and then kept scoring. Unbelievably after 63 minutes they were ahead 5  2 and looking at the heady heights of minus 1 point. Wrexham had pulled 2 back by the 70th minute. The score was the same at 90 minutes before Wrexham equalised then broke any Kent hearts that made the trip by scoring a winner in the 98th minute.

Sport can be cruel.

I'd agree that Real Madrid are ahead of Barca as the biggest club in Spain. Probably the World too. Barca probably realise this too hence the club motto 'mes que un club'.  In other words yes Madrid are probably the bigger club but we are more than a club

Quote from: Fishy on March 25, 2022, 10:01:30 AMYes but not as we know it....

Relayer is light-years ahead of CttE imho

Unless they were in the audience only Alan White was in Wembley '83. Apparently Trevor Horn brought Frankie Goes to Hollywood to Wembley that night so there may have been more celebrities present.

Never really got on with Relayer, love Close to The Edge though. Runs Going For The One very close as my favourite album of theirs

Quote from: Slim on March 24, 2022, 11:01:50 PMSo: the Welsh are still in with a chance of qualifying for the World Cup, having beaten the Austrians 2-1 at Cardiff.

Italy have failed to qualify for a World Cup again, as well.

From champions of Europe to being knocked out by North Macedonia. A country that sounds like its on the Northern Line. That's some fall
