Bet you've forgotten Bill Ward and Ian Gillan's son Ray, the bloke from Savoy Brown, Glenn "AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" Hughes and some other bloke.
Just ordered a box with 21 CDs a DVD and 2 Blu-rays: King Crimson - The Road to Red

I like it. Accessible fusion. Smooth.
I have mixed feelings about Holdsworth. He was a stunning musician but too often he widdled at extreme high speed just because he could. Amazing legato technique but I don't think it always serves the music well and that's the case too often here.
There are some interesting vocal performances as well, with a singer called Rowanne Mark providing Julie-Andrews-esque snippets on the title track.
Bought Zappa's Imaginary Diseases, one of many posthumous releases and really good.
Flora Purim - Flora's Song

Holdsworth is obviously a brilliant guitarist, not heard much but often think I should buy more. My favourite album with him on is Soft Machine -Bundles, and he fits in with their sound rally well. John Etheridge took over from him on the next SM album and he did a brilliant job. I like the idea of him AH playing in Level 42, their is a YouTube video of it....without any video!
I really like Level 42. Mark King came to the view that although he was an amazing player, he wasn't right for the band. There's a very interesting interview with Jakko Jakszyk in which he talks about meeting Holdsworth and being mentored by him. He went on to replace him in that band.
Just found it, here: about 32 mins in.

New Todd Rundgren album.. oh dear....
Quote from: Fishy on October 19, 2022, 04:16:27 PMNew Todd Rundgren album.. oh dear....
I came to this thread for the same reason, just bought
Space Force.
Every artist has their time, and I'm afraid this isn't Todd's. But that's fine. Nonetheless there are some listenable tunes on here, I quite like
Head In The Ocean. And there's a hint of the old Todd in
I'm Leaving. I like that one.
The production feels a bit basic though and for someone of Todd's standing, that's strange.

The whole idea of the album for me was doomed from the start... ask around for some unfinished songs from various people and he would make them into something...like I said on a Todd forum .. unfinished songs are usually unfinished for a reason ie the artist doesn't think they're very good ... the opener is good with Adrian Belew the next three are dire especially the Sparks one ,. Just 5 mins of repetitive annoying drivel...there's a couple of good tracks nearer the end of the album...I'm amazed it's getting the decent reviews it seems to be picking up...
Hopefully he's got this collaborative bug out his system and we can get back to some more imaginative material
I would have preferred to get any of these on vinyl, but all are hard to get hold of and very expensive, so CDs it is:
Haken - Aquarius
Haken - Visions
Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part One
Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part Two
Beardfish - Destined Solitaire
Can't believe I haven't posted in this thread since October .. anyway my most recent downloads or CD purchases are:
Rolling Stones - Between the Buttons
Trintje Oosterhuis - The Look Of Love (a collection of Bacarach tunes)
Benny Sings - City Pop
Polyphia - New Levels, New Devils
Mamas Gun - At PizzaExpress Live
Van Halen - III

Don't. It's awful.
Gungfly - Lamentations
Gungfly - Please Be Quiet
Haken - L-1ve
Paul Gilbert - The Dio Album
It is just crazy what he can do with a guitar
Rikard Sjöblom's Gungfly – Rumbling Box (2006-2016) a 5 CD box set of greatness
Nita Strauss - The Call of the Void (The new one)
Nita Strauss - Controlled Chaos (the debut)
she can play. No wonder Alice Cooper picked her up for his band. On the new one she has a string of famous metal singers guesting.
Gentle Giant - Interview (Steven Wilson Remix)

With the blu-ray or just the CD? I've got all the others on CD/Blu so I'll likely get this one too. I wonder too if they'll carry on with these releases now as all the good ones are done (except the live album Playing the Fool) - The Missing Piece, Giant For a Day and Civilian are probably not worth it.

With Blu-ray. Not bothered with the vinyl version though, happy with what I've got.
I bought a few more Rolling Stones albums - I doubt I'll listen to the likes of Dirty Work or Steel Wheels more than once but I will listen to them at some point.
Today I bought this, very nice Holdsworth-esque fusion

Same here. I normally always get vinyl, but with these SW remixes just CD/Blu-ray for me as well (I have got Three Piece Suite on vinyl as well though)
Just ordered:
Frost* - Island Live Blu-ray/2CD
Eventually got round to ordering:
Gentle Giant - Interview (Steven Wilson Remix) CD/Blu-ray
Steven Wilson - Get All You Deserve CD/Blu-ray

Maybe my favourite PT/solo live release of his. Would love to have seen this tour, sadly he didn't really tour his solo material over here until the Raven (they were magical shows 👌🏻)
Jethro Tull - The Broadsword and the Beast 40th Anniversary Monster Edition
Robin Trower-Twice Removed From Yesterday (50th Anniversary deluxe edition)
One of the finest guitarists in rock history, with unparalleled tone 👌🏻
Ordered the 2017 remix of Sergeant Pepper. I have the 2009 remaster which is great, but anecdotally, the 2017 stereo mix by Giles Martin is better. Uses first generation tapes, which the 2009 remaster didn't.

I like Robin Trower but really his sound is just Jimi Hendrix with a bit of phaser.
Hawkwind - Space Ritual 50th Anniversary 10CD 1 BluRay
So much Windy goodness to enjoy :)
Teenage Fanclub-Nothing Lasts Forever
2 Andrew Hill cds, Dusk and a live one with an 11 piece orchestra. Not available on lp, released on a rather obscure label.
Will be delivered shortly.

Got to admit I don't have the heart to do something like that. I'd be thinking - am I actually going to listen to all of these, in my remaining lifetime? If so, how often? Which inevitably makes me think about mortality.

I doubt I will ever listen to all of them, bought it for the 5.1 mixes and I'd never bought any Camel later than Breathless so I've got a few more in their oeuvre now.
Treated myself to a standalone portable cd player (that has yet to arrive courtesy of DHL). It a Shanling ec mini, looking forward to it.
Yes I already have a Marantz cd player, but this is for on my desk, headphones plugged in.
So with that goes... New cd's! Because the 700 I have are not enough...
Anyway, I found these neat little boxes on Amazon for under 20 euro. 5x Mahavishnu Orchestra (the early stuff), a one disc Mahavishnu 'lost sessions', 2 boxes of 5x Weather Report, the Cure's Join the Dots (rarities and b sides) and a live cd of Dutch band Death Alley. All together 100 euros for 21 cd's. Not bad.
While browsing I also bumped into a Rush box with the Atlantic albums Presto to Snakes and arrows and includes the VT remix, 7 discs for 12,31 eur :o
I have the albums somewhere so left it, but it's a bargain if you're looking for latter day Rush.
The Yes Album [Super Deluxe]
Just turned up in a box which said FRAGILE on it, had me worried for a minute...

And it's 4CDs an LP and a Blu-ray. Only got it for the Atmos mix on the Blu-ray...
A bundle of Aqualung - 40th Anniversary Box, Songs From The Wood 40th Anniversary Edition (The Country Set) and Minstrel In The Gallery - 40th Anniversary La Grande Edition by Jethro Tull.
Missed these first time around. Might be able to start on them next year when I'm done with Camel...

Are they reissued, those are the boxset/book format ones right? Had my eye on those but missed them as well. The Aqualung did not look that spectacular to me. I am not into the whole 5.1 thing. But I love Songs from the Wood.
I do have the Stormwatch, Heavy Horses and A sets that I really like.

Yes, a limited reissue, I was gutted to miss out on Songs from the Wood first time around, like you I have the Stormwatch, Heavy Horses and A, plus Broadsword and the Beast. Got an email from Burning Shed a couple of weeks ago with an offer for these three sets, so I thought "Why not" :)
Also turned up today: Richard Wright - Wet Dream (eeeuurrggghhh!) bought for the Atmos mix.
Cheers, found them in Germany, still not cheap, will have a think on it. Tempted though, the Minstrel with the live concert.
So ordered at Ze German.
New releases bought lately:
pg - i/o
Mariusz Duda - Afr AI d
Pattern-Seeking Animals - Spooky Action at a Distance
Andy Partridge - My Failed Christmas Career Vol 1 (although this did come out last Christmas)

I rarely buy CDs these days, but when I really love an album and it's not on vinyl I will still support the band and get the CD - normally from Bandcamp. I think this is the most I've ever paid for a single CD: £24.50 (£18+£6.50pp). It came from France which is why the p&p is so much - took a while to arrive too:

Bit of a waste of JPJ
Heard this on Huey Morgan's R6 show, downloaded the album from Bandcamp. Right up my street. The album is a concept album (albeit instrumental) about legal difficulties.
