One thing that always bugs me, and its related to GPS devices. My Wahoo device, and peripherals (HR, Cadence, speed) are all "on the bike" so are calibrated, relatively accurate, and not reliant on a GPS signal.

Then, when I finish my ride, Strava (which is like the Microsoft of cycling ie we all bloody use it ) then applies its own algorythm and changes my stats. Its very odd/frustrating

The Wahoo app doesnt.

wonder why

A band I dont spend that much time with, but always like it when I do. Weird that

The live at Tillberg release is really good, I should like them more but for some reason....

Maybe its just because there is so much music around these days. I should just do a Zoony and listen to 3 bands (well, 1 really but pretend its three to stave off any abuse)

Couldnt get into it at all, bored me stiff

Just finished Ozark. Wasnt the ending I was expecting or hoping for

On a positive note, it does sound a world away from VT/SnA, which makes me truly wonder who actually wrote those album songs in the end

I think it was from my early Record Library visits, when my brother and I were playing catch up with Rush and Led Zep, and someone said "try this!"

I was too young to have seen them back then, so this is my only "record" of it, and hence why its so special to me

I have to use my imagination when I listen to it to think what it was like, but I always think standing behind a 747 taking off would have been a similar experience

Rush / Re: Never played live

Some really good tracks in that lot, Emotion Detector is a real under the radar number, the two from 2112 I really like, although maybe more in context after the bombast and immersive experience that is side 1

Oddly enough, while its a different band, I had a dream the other day I met Nicko McBrain from Maiden, and asked him if there were any songs they never played live that he wished they had.

When bands choose a set list, I imagine there has to be a certain amount of give and take, certain songs need to be there, certain ones definitely not, and some in rotation.

Always wondered how Rush did it, especially as time went on and the gigs got longer and longer. Maiden obviously just do what Steve Harris says....

From HYF onwards I actually dont care too much to be honest what did or did not get played, as I was there for what they had previously released, which is why R30 for me was mostly great for example.

long day in the saddle

I, on the other hand, will be jet washing horse stables, as there has been a Pin Worm outbreak

I think the phrase rhymes with "clucking bell"

But, the basic service was £40, and then additional labour £47. Was here for a couple of ours (he is a mobile guy)
£120 for two tyres! That's some tyre. I'm more than happy with my Michelin Pro 3 Race but I know you're waaaaay more into your cycling than me  :)
I wont be doing that again with the tyres, I didnt realise how much they were tbh!

I have some michelin ones, might be Pro 3 race actually on my other bike, or certainly similar, and think they are great

Its done now,so no  point stressing, but it wont happen again.

No secret that this is my favourite, most listened to album of all time.

Yes, I know its been patched together from various shows, and in some cases songs, and I know its far too short (the original), and I know that some people think the production lacks a little (apart from Iron Horse)

But for me it is Motorhead. Nothing else they have done, live or studio, comes close to what the band were/are about

It is brutal, but catchy and has groove

The recent re release is really interesting, with the 3 extra shows which some of you will have been at

There is a moment, in one of the shows, which sums up the band for me, when they Play The Chase is better than the catch. There is about a minute in the middle where Lemmy's bass cuts out, and its just Phil and Eddie playing. Its interesting to hear Eddie by himself, but them when the bass kicks in again you realise just what a force of nature his playing was, and what it brought to the songs

I love the artwork (front cover just says "energy" to me), I love the sleeve notes, I love everything about it.

The one thing I have never really done though, oddly, is listen to it very loud on a truly decent bit of stereo kit, but I reckon that would be fun!

In no particular order, but Ace of Spades kicks things off, and while its a song we have all heard millions of times, it always delivers. Tracks like Stay Clean and Metropolis get the treatment, where on the studio versions they plod a bit. The Hammer and No Class are literally Thrash Metal, Iron Horse is just wonderful, and Overkill on this platter is as heavy as it gets.

In fact, side 2 is (bar Capricorn) like some sort of pre cursor to Reign in Blood by Slayer, it is just brutal, 100mph, tight as a drum and HEAVY!

I love this album

The only Motorhead release that even comes close for me, and you can see it nicely on YouTube, is the Birthday Party Gig from 1985 I think at Hammersmith, with the 2 guitarists

Title track has imprved for me over time, but I cant say I listen out of choice. I like how snippets have turned up on some of the live re-releases though

Side 2 works for me though, it really is very special

Rush-Soundboard from Counterparts tour

Amazing how vanilla the setlists were in that period, but still a really nice show and recording, and I love the version of Cold Fire, a vastly underrated song (IMHO)

Any thoughts Star Wars fans?

Love the Obi stuff on Tattoine (sp)

Cant stand the Leia stuff. Reminds me too much of the disastrous episodes I, II, III
