Rush / Re: Rush's Greatest Song

Anyway...Analog Kid is the best Rush song closely followed by Middletown Dreams. Seeing the latter played live was kinda great but, as expected, beyond Ged's vocal ability by then. Which was a real shame.

Quote from: Slim on April 19, 2022, 10:00:39 AMWell The Weapon is a retread of Visage's Fade To Grey, so I think we were.

Oooh, hadn't thought of that! Fade to Grey is on my main play list, The Weapon isn't ;)

I am really enjoying this. Up there with their best.

I've tried again, still seems incredibly Marillion by numbers to me, just doesn't seem to go anywhere? Some of the fan reaction on Social Media borders on Emperors New Clothes syndrome. Oh well, each to his own I guess  :)

Wow! Would never have thought you were that old!!! Comgratulions  :D

One day about ten years ago a guy I worked with brought cakes into the office to celebrate becoming a grandad. He was 39!

If only!

That's the nicest thing you've said to me for years 😂😉

Rush / Re: Envy of None: New Album Review
April 11, 2022, 05:53:17 PM
Well, I really like it! I suppose that, without the Rush connection it would have passed me by but I'm glad it didn't. I'm not entirely sure what I expected this to sound like but, whatever it was, it's nothing like it and all the better for that  :)

Louise and I saw him yesterday in Oxford. Really good afternoon with an 'In Conversation' section then Q&A from the floor (he even managed to answer my somewhat rambling question, which was jolly nice of him). There were well over 100 folk there, maybe 150, and when it was announced that the book signing would take place up two long flights of stairs we thought we would have to miss out as that would be beyond Lou's capabilities. Steven however was happy to have a quick chat, sign some bits and pieces and have a couple of photos with us before heading up. Top chap indeed!

PS: John Mitchell wandered up while Steven was talking to us, a local resident I presume?

and....whats it like, bad Marillion or good Marillion?
just beautiful

Err...not floating my boat at all. Saw the first Hammersmith gig just before Christmas which was fantastic until they played Be Hard On Yourself, whereupon I nearly dropped off. For me it's very much a case of going through the motions and just pressing the repeat button. As that's repeating the likes of F.E.A.R. and Sounds... it ain't good for me.

Quote from: Slim on February 28, 2022, 10:41:21 PMFirst car tax for my diminutive Volkswagen Up. Only £20!

It's been a great little car so far, more than up to the job of doing long motorway distances and ideal for Tesco and back.

They're great little cars, had one for over 7 years now. Zero tax as it has a stop start function thingy (might that change?). As you say more than capable of travelling long distances, mine has even managed to navigate dodgy farm tracks on the Somme.

I hope Slim knows what he's in for! We'll have TNMS 2.0 to run/moderate before long ;)

Afternoon all...I'll not be moderating anything, far too thin skinned and sensitive for all that malarkey  ;)
