Took a bit of thinking to get the solution from my 2nd attempt.

I don't use the same starting word every day; I have five or six that I use regularly. As I entered the first word this morning I thought to myself - maybe this isn't such a good starting word, very few five letter words don't end with that last letter (a vowel). Obviously this diminishes your chances of getting one or more of the vowels in the right place on the first go.

However today's solution does actually end in the same vowel, and by the same principle I'd narrowed the choices down quite a bit.

Hardest one yet, for me. Had to break my rule and abandon "hard mode" for the third word, simply because I could not think of a word that would fit. But once I had the clues from it, it came quickly.

I didn't realise that there were modes, hard or otherwise. I've only ever just gone to the website and got started.

Well - "hard mode" means that each of your attempts has to be a possible solution based on the clues you've had. I call it "optimistic mode". You can  adjust the site settings so that it will enforce this or you can just make it a personal rule, like I do.

It's not necessarily the most logical way to approach the problem but I find it more fun.
