After returning (just before lunchtime) from a weekend away in Hampshire, I had no plans for the rest of the day bar maybe start 'My Effin' Life'. However, ended up having a rather productive afternoon.
Prior to lunch, I transferred all the geranium pots that were still outside into the greenhouse (with the aim to save a few for next year). After lunch I decided to clean the guttering of debris from the autumn leaf fall. Next it was gathering up the last of the leaves from around the garden. I then gave all the window and door frames a wipe down to smarten them up. As I'd got the hosepipe out to flush the gutter, I decided to remove the motorway grime from the motorhome. Finally, I fitted a new rubber threshold seal for the back door that arrived through the post at the end of last week.
Very chuffed to get those outstanding jobs ticked-off.

It's a great feeling of achievement when you get on a roll like that. I think you must have caught the first version of short covid though.😁

I've just bought one of these as a sort of homage to it. Arrived this morning.



The annoying thing about the old one was that the second hand and the minute hand looked exactly the same.. they used the same LCD elements. But on this one only a second hand 'tip' is represented which solves that problem.

The out of office is on, resuming duty January 3rd.
(Still testing positive but feeling better than I did)

Normally one of my Christmas Day rituals is a Scotch in the afternoon with some chocolate. This is usually followed up by more of the same, especially the Scotch, later in the day.

However today I wanted to give myself the best possible shot of waking up tomorrow morning feeling recovered from COVID (nearly there now although I did test positive this morning) so I haven't had a drink all day. This must be my first alcohol-free Christmas Day since 1965 or so. Even at the age of 6 I'd have a small glass of wine with Christmas dinner and a bit of sherry.

Tested negative, finally after 2 weeks! Which means I can go visit my parents...at some point.

Christmas decorations are down... brilliant

Every year again: fireworks. It's walking a tightrope when taking out the dogs.
However, my tax money at work today, an unmarked van pulled up on a group of youngsters that were busy blowing up a outdoor bin. They managed to grab 2 of them, and it is a bit more quiet now.

And no, there is no national ban, but 16 cities have incited a local ban including my city, Rotterdam.

Already 1 dead this year due to stupidity in lighting off the stuff - more to follow no doubt. Really Darwin award inspiring this.

Had no tinnies left but the local village shop still open (run by an Indian or possibly Sri Lankan family) - San Miguel procured accordingly.
