Title: Alex playing on a Jeff Berlin album
Post by: Slim on November 12, 2022, 07:16:31 PM
Saw this on the geddyimages (https://www.instagram.com/geddyimages/?hl=en) Instagram account a few minutse ago. Lovers of fusion and jazz will be familiar with Jeff; he's best known for his work as a sideman with the likes of Bill Bruford, Allan Holdsworth and David Sancious. I think he played in ABWH for a bit as well. I saw him playing with John McLaughlin at Newcastle Uni in 1988, that was a very memorable gig.

Anyway he's got a tribute album to Jack Bruce out and your own Alex Lifeson plays on one of the tunes.

Thinking about this, there's possibly an interesting conversation to be had about Alex' guitar style. He used to be such an interesting player but latterly - actually for at least 25 years now - he seems content just to plug in and rock out. But perhaps he'll surprise me on this Jeff Berlin album. I look forward to finding out.

I'm glad Jeff has finally removed his 'tache.
